Types of Translation Services
Sunmicro Technologies provides the following two types of translation services-
  • Language Specific Translation Services
  • Translation Specific Translation Services
Language Specific translation involves texts that originate from and are translated into a special language register, corresponding to a particular sector of society or a sphere of public activity.
  • Under this category we provide legal, financial, medical & technical translation services
Translation Specific Services refers to the way the source text is rendered in the target language, irrespective of the text registers.
  • Under this category we provide multi-lingual translation services in languages pertaining to native speakers
Sunmicro Technologies translation processes involves the following stages-
  • Review: Our Project Manager of the translation project completes a review of the overall scope of the project such as timeline, inventory of files, glossaries and final file delivery. Working with the client, the Project Manger identifies all the text that should remain in the source language and then develops a list for the translators’ and editors’ use. At this stage, the Project Manager identifies any typos, inconsistencies, missing text in the source document or any other errors that require client clarification and then reviews these concerns with the client.
  • Template Building: The next process involves creating a template if required as it helps us in easily processing the formatted documents through TRADOS – a translation memory software program.
  • Glossary Development: For large scale projects, we have developed a standard glossary for all of our professional translators so that they can refer when working with our client materials. We have our own Language Resources Department that oversees the workflow of individual translators and to oversee the development of client/project specific glossaries. This glossary is the key that ensures the highest level of quality and consistency for translation projects.
  • Translator Processes – The key element of our translation process involves placing the translation material with the qualified, experienced target language translators that is based on the content and the translators’ subject matter expertise. Our chosen translators are usually native speakers of the target language who would then translate the materials and return it to the project manager for review.
  • Editing – Our editing process involves reviewing of initial translations by another batch of our qualified and professional translators/ editors to ensure the quality of the translation. This process known as editing ensures that translation errors or stylistic differences are rectified by more than one set of translators and editors specifically targeting grammatical, typographical and word choice errors. The assigned editor will refine the translated text by incorporating preferred glossary terminology and the style specifications established during the pre-flight phase of the project. The editor also ensures that the content no longer reads like a translation, but reads as if it was originally crafted in the target language.
  • Proofreading - A consistent, high level of quality is maintained by thoroughly proofreading the translated text. This function is performed by a third native speaker of the target language, also familiar with the Glossary, Style Guide and Brand Guide which have now established the client's brand voice in the target language.
  • Translator/Client Review: The edited content is then reviewed by our original translators after the incorporation of the editor’s comments on the initial translation. In case, the client asks or recommends reviewing the translation prior to formatting, then it is necessary to request the client to track the changes in the submitted drafts.
  • Formatting: Our next translation process involves formatting each translation to match with the original material by our Desktop publishing (DTP) experts while taking into account the sensitivities of the audiences’ cultural nuances. Usually, formatting of the translation works is done with the same application that was used to lay out the source document but in some cases, translation process may involve using the application that is better suited to the target language fonts and other requirements.
  • Final Translation Review: It involves the review of the translation project by the original translator to ensure that the text is has been formatted correctly. It also involves the verification of words such as hyphenations and any omission of text during the formatting stage. Our reviewer then proofs a hard copy print out and an on screen review depending upon the need of each translation project.
  • Final Check/Delivery: The final process of translation involves our project manager gathering all the final deliverables that meet the original specifications of the client. He ensures that layout, page numbers and proper names and other details match the source document before delivering the material on the specific delivery date.
